Dictator for iOS – Beta
After using Dictator for the last couple of weeks, it was getting more and more frustrating that it wasn’t available on my phone, which is the most painful place to do any writing. I’m sure many people have gotten super quick with the keyboard now, but it just seems to be getting more and more difficult for me. So I decided to have a go at building Dictator for iOS and I’m glad I did.
What you get is an app that’s a really good notepad to speak into, a speech-first notepad, but then there’s also the assistant in there, so you can ask it to make corrections directly without fiddling with the cursor.
There’s also a custom keyboard that lets you quickly open the app and start listening. The keyboard also lets you directly paste in there as well. It’s quite a nice little setup, it’s not perfect. Obviously, there are some platform limitations, things that Apple doesn’t want you to be able to do, which are annoying. But I have to admit, it works pretty well.
I’ve been using it for the last couple of days and I’m sold. If you want to give it a go, it’s not quite on the app store yet, but you can join the test flight beta to get early access. I’d love to get any feedback. Thank you.
As always with Dictator, I’m making this available for free.
Entirely for free. No restrictions.
