Introducing Giglr

a screenshot of a very early version of giglr from 2009

After recently finding myself with some extra time on my hands and on the eve of my 40th birthday, and old idea popped back into my head. And I do mean old idea. That screenshot above is from 2009!

Most gig listing sites etc. are designed so that you can find out when tickets are released for your favourite bands, so that you can then snap them up as soon as they’re available. That’s great, and how I imagine most people want to find gigs, but I often find myself just craving a little bit of live music… and it was difficult to know where to go to find a list of what my options were for that evening.

Enter Giglr. It’s a gig listing site that focuses on the next 7 days at the smaller venues where you might be able to actually buy tickets on the door.

Do I expect it to change the world? No, of course not – but it feels great to quickly build and release an MVP of something where I have at least 5 completely different re-writes dating back to January 2009.

In fact, the domain giglr.co.uk was registered on Sunday 18th of January 2009. That’s only 16 years, 2 months and 27 days to get an MVP out! A new personal best. Of course, this was started afresh just a month ago… but it feels great to finally have this idea out there.
