Personal Health: Mounjaro Week 2
It’s done, week 2 is over 🥳 and I’ve just taken jab 3. Side effects, I don’t think any except for feeling bloated a fair amount of the week – but nothing worse than feeling like I’d had a big meal.
It’s not feeling quite as effective as week 1, however it did remain more consistent throughout the week. By the end of that first week I was thinking more about sweet treats, whereas while tempted a few times today by some lovely looking cakes … it was much easier to say no.
It’s wild to me that giving this lack of casual thought to food is probably how most people live all the time. That’s something I have been thinking about a lot this week.
In terms of numbers, loss noticeably dropped off this week. I hit a plateau mid-week, which caused me to double my efforts. I realised that I’d probably not meaningfully enough shrank my meal sizes, and that perhaps they were creeping back up a bit – an extra scotch egg here or there. Sorting that seems to have helped, but time will tell. Week 3 will be a key one for me, as that’s normally where I slip up and binge the past two weeks worth of calories back.
This week I lost 1.7kg, for a total of 4.5kg so far – which is great. But we’re still very much in my normal fluctuation range. I’m hopeful that by the end of next week we’ll have broken through that invisible barrier.
I’m still weighing in daily, which most everyone around me is politely encouraging me not to do. I’m still finding it useful while so carefully monitoring what I am eating and the impact that’s having. I think I’m essentially relearning a lot of default behaviours around food and keen to keep the momentum for now. I’ve even started logging food again to at least have some conscious notion of what I’m eating.
